Hawaii

Oh, Hawaii! It's been over a month now, but Ed and I still hold close the wonderful memories of our 10 year anniversary trip. When we had Natalie we told each other we would still take trips by ourselves, we feel it's important for our marriage and for our family. So, we've been able to take a weekend here or there, but we seem to be saving the week long ones for every five years, not so easy to find people to watch 2 kids for a week at a time! This year with help from family, we were able to spend a week in Kauai, a beautiful, tropical, lush island that provided much relaxation and plenty of rain as well! Yes, most of the trip was filled with rain, not just the scattered showers throughout the day that lasts 5 minutes and is done, no, I'm talking downpours all day long, which made it difficult to sit on the beach for any long period of time! But, we both decided, rain or not, we were still going to make the best of our time alone in paradise!
We explored much of the island on our own, swimming in Queen's Bath, ziplining for the first time for both of us (yes, in the rain!), discovering numerous waterfalls (even the one from Fantasy Island), exploring dry and wet caves, eating yummy island sushi and macadamia nut pancakes and other delicious food, and relaxing! We missed our little munchkins so much, but are so grateful for family who took good care of them while we were gone. We're looking forward to the next trip in another 5 years, but this time we'll do our weather research first!
